NUS Museum
2007
H55 created the visual identity, invitation pack and publication for ‘We’, a group art exhibition at the NUS Museum which explores the production of collective identities and its relation to place, culture and nation.
H55 represented the idea of collectivism by first designing a ‘political’ symbol of sorts for ‘We’. To express ‘We’, the symbol uses the letter ‘W’ to illustrate 3 beings, representative of the artists taking part in the exhibition.
As the title ‘We’ is inspired by the Singapore pledge (and therefore connotes issues relating to national identity), the book pages use text separation lines synonymous with the national newspapers at the time. The pink section at the back of the book consists of blown-up footnotes, which the curators believed were equally, if not, more important than the rest of the book.
