To graphically represent the theme of “Sustainability” for the Ong Siew May Distinguished Lecture Series, we deliberately avoided the cliché “go-green” graphics and used the language of bar charts, as we felt that the overall idea of sustainabililty related more to “quantities” (eg. more carbon footprint, use less energy, more water wastage, etc.) rather than the environment per se. The bar charts were then used to form letters which spelt out the theme of the lecture series as well as the names of each speaker.
