2015

Rejecting the conventional picture monograph, H55 launched ‘Word by Word We Build Ourselves’ to commemorate its 16 years in operation and as a form of ‘creative self-audit’. ‘Word by Word We Build Ourselves’ is manifesto cum autobiography that outlines the philosophy of H55’s Founder, Hanson Ho, in 55 words, ranging from  ‘Absolute’ to ‘Nature’ to ‘Work’. Each defines how the President’s Design Award winner sees design, the intentions behind his works and how he has survived as an independent studio in Singapore. Using footnote numbers for cross referencing each of the 55 words, the H55 dictionary is sold in all major bookstores in Singapore.
